Welcome to the Curiosity Carnival. An exploration into the fun and messy behind-the-scenes of being a STEM teacher in San Francisco.
As a teacher, I had to sit back and let my students engage with another school. Sharing what we learned, and being good listeners.
We prepared by learning about the mosquito lifecycle, and the geographic locations of people at risk for malaria.
We also looked at current research about why some regions became malaria-free. Better roads, access to clean water, and having air conditioning and window screens help pull communities out of malaria-poverty cycles more than mosquito nets which are seen as an inconvenience.
