Hi.

Welcome to the Curiosity Carnival. An exploration into the fun and messy behind-the-scenes of being a STEM teacher in San Francisco.

Beaker of Ice

What can a beaker of ice water teach you about matter?

Well the 6th graders are exploring matter this week. After their first exploration with Oobleck - a non-Newtonian fluid, it is back to basics and nothing is simpler than looking at good ol’ water.

These explorations into matter help set the foundation for studying Earth, the Solar System, and the elements essential for sustaining life.

  • What makes Earth unique?
  • How do Earth’s systems sustain life?
  • How do my decisions impact the planet?
