What is this? All six stream table trays fit in the lab sink trough. With room to spare too. No more stacks of saturated soil trays dripping onto counters. Clean up and setup is so simple we’ve added at least 10 more minutes of student driven scientific investigation into our class period. Hooray for our new sinks.
Today our 7th graders started their first long term project of the school year. First they observed how stream tables work, coming up with their own investigative questions. Each group is focusing on a unique cause-effect investigation: slope of stream table, speed of water flow, saturation level of soil, landscape barriers, etc.
What will a stream table teach us about the interactions between soil and running water?
